Vacuums are one of those appliances you use several times a week – well, at least you probably try to, right? With so much use, they can easily break down. I know that in the eight years we’ve been married, my husband and I have gone through four vacuums. I’m not sure if this is the same for the average person or if we just have really, really bad luck with vacuums, but that’s the reality of it for us – four vacuums in eight years.
When we were recently offered the opportunity to review and giveaway a new Eureka AirSpeed ABS vacuum cleaner, I accepted knowing that many of you could probably use a new vacuum. Since we aren’t in need of a new vacuum at this time, I offered the review unit to my brother and his family to test it out. Here’s what they had to say about it:
- The weight is convenient since it allows for more flexibility to move around.
- It has more power than others and vacuums one area with just one sweep.
- The attachments work better than other vacuums since you can disable the main bottom portion and redirect all the suction power to the attachment.
- It is very easy to change the bag.
- They appreciated the fact that the instructions come in both English and Spanish.
A couple of more details about the Eureka AirSpeed ABS, as provided to me, include:
- The Eureka AirSpeed ABS combines AirSpeed Technology with features of a bagged vacuum.
- AirSpeed Technology uses two wide tubes with limited bends and turns, allowing more air to pass through the vacuum.
- The direct air path from floor to dust cup decreases the distance for dirt to travel, which increases the amount of airflow for powerful suction.
- Unlike other models in the AirSpeed line – all of which are bagless – AirSpeed ABS uses replaceable, disposable bags to capture dust and debris and completely contain dirt and allergens.
- The Eureka AirSpeed ABS retails for $129.88 and can be found exclusively at Walmart. (Note: I’m a Walmart Moms member, however this is not a Walmart-sponsored post.)
Overall, my brother and his family found the Eureka AirSpeed vacuum to be efficient and do its job. Now, one of you can test it out for yourselves, as we’re giving one of these vacuums away!

OMG- I have 3 in my garage right now! 2 are broke and 1 holding on for dear life- so 3 in 4 years! ridiculous!
I purchased a new one about a year ago and it just broke. I kept telling my husband that it didn’t seem to be picking up and sure enough he checked it out and said something was broken on it. The one I purchase before this one was maybe 5 years old. We have another one downstairs that is at least 15 years old…it’s a bit beat up, but still works.
Thanks so much for this wonderful giveaway.

We have never replaced our 13 year old vacuum cleaner, though we need to badly. It no longer stands upright on its own, doesn’t really have that much suction power and sometimes blows dust out the side vent.
About every 5 years
We don’t replace our vacuum nearly enough! We pretty much only do it when absolutely necessary. i.e. the vacuum breaks and cannot be repaired. We could use a new one!
We replace our vacuums as needed and have probably averaged about 7 years of use out of one before it dies.
i buy the cheapest vacuum that can do the job and they usually last several years.
For some reason mine keeps getting clogged and usually has no sucking power at all, it’s only 6 months old. I spend most of my time on my hands and knees picking up hard chunks of playdoh and string. I feel someday, it may end up out the window on my lawn.
every year. i think i vaccuum every other day with kids and a dog and cat an a hubby to clean up aftr .lol
I have two vacuums, one for each end of the house. I generally have to replace one at least once a year! They just don’t hold up very well, especially in our home. We have five children and work in dog rescue. There are generally at least five dogs in our home at any given time, which means a lot of pet hair is vacuumed daily!
As a mother of 3 little darlings vacuuming has become at least a twice daily activity. It’s fair to say my poor vacuum gets its fair share of use! This is my third one this year! It’s getting a little rough on the budget let me tell you!
I guess every 3-4 years. I am using one that it works but the handle is broken.
I typically replace my vacuum cleaner any/every time I can get my hands on a hand me down. My Oreck just died, too.

I’m just over thirty years old and I’ve never replaced a vacuum. I got a hand-me-down from my mom when I started college (which I never actually used until I bought a house a few years ago) and then I bought a new vacuum shortly after I bought my house so that I could have one on each floor instead of lugging the old heavy one up and down all the time. It helped that upstairs is almost all carpet and downstairs is alomst all hardwood, so I needed 2 different kinds of vacuum anyway. That being said, I’d love to replace the upstairs vac with a new Eureka AirSpeed ABS! Thanks!

I typically replace my vacuum every year or two. I have dogs, cats and birds and this old house gets dirty and beat up. Good luck to anyone who enters.

My vacuum smells funny…help!!!! sara
It seems like we are replacing them every year or to. Because we have two little ones and a dog, we are constantly vacuuming.
I subscribe to your email and like you on Facebook! I would love to win this! I get a new vacuum at least once a year, if they even last that long in my pet & child crazy home! Thanks so much for the fantastic giveaway!
