Don’t be fooled by Pikachu’s small size in the new live-action film from the POKÉMON franchise, POKÉMON Detective Pikachu. It brings him and many more POKÉMON to life in a big way. That’s coming from someone who’s never been much of a POKÉMON fan – it was popular after I was too old for it, but my little brothers loved it. And now my son enjoys it! I also never imagined it would still be around for this generation of kids…I’ll rephrase that, both kids and adults! Read on to see my top 3 reasons to catch POKÉMON Detective Pikachu in theaters this Friday, May 10th.
3 Reasons to Watch POKÉMON Detective Pikachu!
1. Pikachu is funny
The film does a good job of creating the build-up of suspense, having a major action scene, and an interesting plot twist with lots of humor along the way. True to Ryan Reynolds’ sarcastic-humor-style, he brings a big personality to this small POKÉMON detective, which makes for a movie that will be sure to entertain people of all ages. Some of the humor may go directly over the younger one’s heads, but it’s those moments that make it a win for the grown ups. There was lots of laughter throughout the audience!
2. Pikachu is cute
I have to admit, Pikachu is actually kind of cute, which is another reason to watch. It’s hard to deny his impact on the film, especially with that little detective hat he wears and the fact that he talks! This version of Pikachu comes such a long way from the two-syllable creature he is in the cartoons.
3. The kids will dig it
The most important reason to watch POKÉMON Detective Pikachu is because the kids will love it! It’s an easy story line to follow and if they’re into anything POKÉMON, they’ll enjoy seeing all the characters on the big screen. While adults may find some of the CGI animation and acting a little on the cheesy side, overall this live-action POKÉMON adventure is a hit for the kiddos.
