With a gaming husband who’s been playing video games since he was a child, it’s only natural that his love for games would be picked up and shared by our kids. Both our teen girl and soon-to-be tween boy enjoy the world of video games – our boy just a tad bit more – and truly enjoy playing along with Dad! As they get older, in addition to couch co-op games, they’re beginning to enter the world of online play, even if just within our house since we have multiple gaming consoles. This requires better gaming audio and mics – and so a gaming headset for the kids seemed like the most natural progression for our gaming family. Provided with a complimentary Turtle Beach Recon 70 gaming headset, it was the perfect opportunity for us to expand our kids’ gaming capabilities!
Turtle Beach Gaming Headsets: Exploring the New Recon 70!
Already familiar with Turtle Beach gaming headsets that he owns, my husband was curious to see how the Turtle Beach Recon 70 gaming headset would work for the kids when playing on either our Nintendo Switch, PS4, or mobile devices. (It also works with Xbox One and PC, platforms we don’t play.) Accustomed to a Bluetooth wireless Turtle Beach gaming headset, it took my husband a bit of getting used to when using the Recon 70 since it’s a wired headset. However, we both feel this is just fine for a beginner gaming headset for our kids! Plus, with its 3.5 mm connector, kids can easily switch from one console to another and use the Recon 70 for all their gaming audio needs. You can see our boy enjoyed playing on his Nintendo Switch while wearing what he’s dubbed “his” Turtle Beach gaming headset!
Even though they’d like to play for hours at a time, we do limit our kids’ gaming time. However, the Turtle Beach Recon 70 gaming headset is designed for hours of play, featuring over-the-ear synthetic leather cushions for comfort and 40mm speakers for hearing in-game chat and gaming audio, while also blocking outside noise. The mic also provides clear sound and has a handy feature – it flips up so you can easily mute yourself!
Overall, the Turtle Beach Recon 70 gaming headset is a decent beginner’s gaming headset and successor to Turtle Beach’s Recon 50 – especially at the very affordable retail price of $39.95! That’s a price point your kids can earn and pay for themselves!
