Do you ever find yourself overwhelmed with the amount of artwork your children can accumulate within a week? Two weeks? A month? I sure do! If you’re like me, you want to save every little piece, right? But, then there’s the display issue. When you least expect it you can barely find your fridge door behind all that lovely artwork, your desk is piled up high with more lovely artwork, and your walls seem to be getting a bit crowded…with, yes, more lovely artwork. Do I sound just about right?
How about displaying that lovely artwork on an easy-to-make wall organizer? One where you can rotate the kids’ artwork regularly? (We do it seasonally.) It is so simple to make this artwork organizer that even the little ones, with a bit of parental supervision, can pretty much make it by themselves. It’s a nice way to keep them busy as they learn to keep the home tidy. Here’s how to make your own kids’ artwork display!
Simple Kids’ Artwork Display for Organizing Children’s Artwork {Kids DIY}
Materials Needed:
- Wooden clothespins
- Braiding cord
- Washi tape
- Scissors
- 2 push pins
How to Make a DIY Kids’ Artwork Display:
Begin by having your little ones tape washi tape directly onto the clothespins. Then, with your supervision, have them cut off all the excess tape (see photos below).
Repeat several times until you have the amount of decorated clothespins needed.
(Oh how we love all these rainbow colors. They make me happy.)
Next measure the length of braiding cord you want to use to display the artwork. Ours measures about 52″ long. (Note: You do not want to make it too long, especially if you are using push pins to hold it up like we did, for it can become too heavy and fall.) If you use something sturdier, like a nail or a screw, then you can keep the length longer. Once you measure, make a knotted loop on each end, then hook onto push pins on wall.
Finally, add all the washi tape decorated clothespins onto your cord and display all your favorite kids’ artwork using the clothespins.
This kids’ artwork display is nice and simple, yet it’s a great way to keep a tidy home and enjoy the kids’ artwork – a perfect balance! For even more ideas on storing your kids’ artwork in the long-term, check out some ideas from Walmart.
