I can’t believe the year is almost over. It seems like only yesterday we were welcoming 2013, and now in just a matter of days, we bid it farewell. Yes, time is moving fast, so let’s celebrate the end of this year in style and welcome 2014 with glam!
There are plenty of places one can buy party masks to wear during New Year’s Eve, but why not try your hand at your own DIY New Year’s Eve masks for kids instead? If your little ones are like mine, they love crafting and they love masks! These New Year’s Eve party masks are easy to make, using materials you can mostly find at your local Walmart. (Be sure to check out additional craft ideas on the Walmart site.)
DIY New Year’s Eve Glam Masks {Kids Craft}
Materials Needed:
- Glittered card stock (or any plain solid colors)
- Feathers of assorted colors
- Sequins of assorted colors
- Glitter glue
- Elmer’s glue
- Thin black satin ribbon
- Hole puncher
How to Make New Year’s Eve Glam Masks for Kids:
Begin by creating a mask template (or you can download and print the free printable New Year’s Eve mask template I made), tracing it, and then cutting out the mask. Then punch two holes, using the hole puncher, on each end of the mask. Next, start decorating it.
For my son’s mask, he chose to add sequins all around the edge of his New Year’s Eve mask.
My daughter on the other hand, chose a simpler style, by just adding a feather and three coordinating sequin bits.
If you like, you can also add the new year, 2014, with the glitter glue.
Let it dry for at least a half a day (preferably longer), then add the satin ribbon to the mask by tying a knot and then taping it on the back.
You are done! Now wear and celebrate in style.
Happy New Year!
