We’ve never done much Easter egg dying, but my kids do enjoy doing fun crafts. Last year, we made hopping Easter bunnies around this time, but this year I wanted an easy Easter craft that my four-year-old could do independently, yet my nine-year old would enjoy. Using plastic dyeable eggs and colorful washi tape, my baby boy was able to decorate a few eggs all by himself, while my girl had fun being creative and working with her hands. This Easter craft is perfect for toddlers, preschoolers, and young kids, but tweens will enjoy it too! Check out the fun we had decorating our plastic Easter eggs with only three simple supplies, all of which you can find at your local Walmart!
Easy Easter Craft for Toddlers & Young Kids: Washi Tape Easter Eggs
Materials Needed:
- Plastic dyeable eggs – You can find these in the Easter section at your local Walmart for only $1.98. They come in white and chalkboard black.
- Washi tape, assorted colors and prints
- Safety scissors (optional)
How to Decorate Easter Eggs with Kids Using Washi Tape
Let your kids freely decorate their Easter eggs using the washi tape assortment. They can mix and match coordinating colors and prints to create fun designs.
My four-year-old was able to do this all by himself, choosing to simply rip the washi tape into the desired size. My nine-year-old, on the other hand, wanted a cleaner cut, so she used scissors to cut her tape pieces. Both had fun placing the tape on the Easter eggs to create various designs.
This is such a simple and easy Easter craft, yet they had a blast and their washi tape Easter eggs came out looking great! Now we can use these around the house to decorate a bit and we can add them to our collection for an Easter egg hunt. The extra great thing about this Easter craft is that there was absolutely no mess of dying and no eggs go wasted either.
