We recently moved from beautiful Virginia to Texas, where the falling of leaves is not a common occurrence. (Sigh.) When asked to work on a fall craft, all I could think of were leaves – beautiful color-changing leaves, floating through the air, covering the ground. (Double sigh.) In memory of all those beautiful, ever-changing, falling leaves, I knew I had to create something that related to it. So, this lovely mini piece of Fall art was created. I title it: Falling Leaves. (So predictable, I know. )
Would you like to make your own Fall Tree art craft with the kids and bring in a bit of those ever-changing fall colors into your home? Let me show you how easy it is!
DIY Fall Tree Art Piece {Kids Craft}
Materials Needed:
- 1 5×7 piece of beige card stock for the background
- scrapbook paper of assorted colors/textures for the leaves, ideally in fall colors
- brown acrylic paint for the tree trunk
- thin paintbrush
- 1 5×7 photo frame
- Elmer’s glue
- scissors
You can purchase most of these materials in Walmart’s crafts department and browse the area for more fall crafts inspiration!
How to Make a Fall Tree Art Piece:
Begin by drawing a tree trunk with a pencil on the beige 5×7 card stock. Then paint it using the brown acrylic paint and let it dry.
While the paint is drying, trace and cut mini leaves from the other assorted scrapbook papers, following the steps shown below. Let your kids have fun drawing their own leaves!
Glue your leaves onto the painted tree trunk, similar to the pattern shown below or however the kids wish to decorate their tree! Once you’ve finished gluing all the leaves, let them dry completely.
Finally, insert your Fall Tree art craft piece into a 5×7 photo frame and display in your favorite spot at home! Happy crafting and enjoy the Fall season!
