It’s the first day of school! Today, my kids head to their first days of pre-Kindergarten and 4th grade! While I am happy to return to more of a routine, I also can’t believe summer flew by so quickly. But, I feel good that they have everything they need this school year and that I was able to save some money in my back to school shopping by purchasing all of their school supplies at Walmart! Seriously, I purchased everything on my daughter’s school supply list and bought a few items for baby boy’s pre-K class’ wish list, all under $40! Plus, with so many back to school items available at Walmart, we took advantage and also found a few back to school clothes pieces for both of them. Check out how Walmart helped us get ready for the first day of school and helped me stay on track!
Back to School Supplies at Walmart
My 4th grade daughter’s school supply list included common elementary school items such as pencils, crayons, markers, and glue sticks. They also asked for 4 2-pocket folders, 6 spiral notebooks, a binder, and notebook paper, among other supplies. When you take a look at such requests, it’s hard to justify paying even $1 for each spiral notebook, when it means $6 worth of notebooks. Additionally, her school always requests specific colors for notebooks and folders (i.e., 2 yellow, 1 green, 1 blue, etc.), so buying cute notebook designs is not feasible. That’s why I’m really glad that Walmart prices their solid color spiral notebooks at just 17 cents! With that price, it’s easy to buy the 6 requested notebooks and maybe even more to donate.
Back to School Style with Affordable Character Shirts
As I mentioned, we also did a little back to school clothes shopping at Walmart and picked up some comfort pieces to add to each kid’s wardrobe. It was great to find character t-shirts for both of them for only $6.97 each! There were a variety of popular characters available, including Minions and Inside Out. I can also always count on being able to find staples like leggings in fun prints and solid colors for my girl, as well as comfortable shorts for my boy.
I know you’ll find lots of other school supplies and back to school clothes available at your local Walmart and on Walmart.com. Go ahead and let me know what great deals you’ve found at Walmart that help you get your family ready for this upcoming school year! I love hearing ideas from other parents!
