Simple Homemade Mother’s Day Card {Kids Craft}
Materials Needed:
- Construction paper
- Kids’ washable paint
- Scissors
- Glue
- Pen, marker, or crayon
How to Make a Simple Homemade Mother’s Day Card for Kids
Fold a piece of construction paper in half vertically and cut along the line. Each half will make an individual Mother’s Day card. Have your child dip his or her thumb into a chosen paint color. I found it best to pour out a few paint colors onto a disposable paper plate so that the kids could easily grab colors with their thumbs.
Help your child press his or her thumb onto the construction paper in a circular pattern, creating flower petals. Your child may need to dip his thumb into the paint more than once before completing the flower.
Next, cut out a small piece of green construction paper to make the stem. Glue the stem beneath the flower petals.
If your child knows how to write, let him or her write a message above the flower. Otherwise, write a short message such as “Happy Mother’s Day!” to finalize your simple homemade Mother’s Day card!
Isn’t that so easy? Toddlers and preschoolers will love how simple this homemade Mother’s Day card craft is to make, but even older kids will have fun! The personalized touch of your son’s or daughter’s thumb print as flower petals will surely be appreciated by the recipient of their homemade Mother’s Day card! May you have a wonderful Mother’s Day!
