Yay! Spring has officially arrived! Okay, not officially according to the calendar, but as far as our Central Florida weather and my allergies are concerned, spring is definitely here! The good thing about spring is that we can now find fun spring clothes in stores with bright colors, floral prints, and similar styles. Plus, we’re able to consistently wear cooler clothes such as shorts, capris, dresses, and short sleeves – styles we’re pretty much able to wear year-round in Florida, but at least it’s a given now that spring has arrived. To celebrate the arrival of spring, the kids and I checked out the new spring clothing options at our local Walmart during their spring break this week and grabbed a new outfit for each of them. Look at what we were able to put together for just a little over $15 each!
Spring Outfits for Kids Under $20
As you walk into the girls’ clothing section, it’s easy to feel like you’ve stepped into spring! Lots of bright colors, flowers, and other spring prints abound in the girls’ department. My girl saw a few pieces she liked, including some dresses and leggings sets, but in the end, we chose a hi-lo floral and striped blouse ($5.82) along with a pastel pink chino capri pant ($9.98). We love the look and it’ll work great for a day at school with cute sandals or sneakers or a fun day out on the weekend!
While there were plenty of obvious spring apparel options in the girls’ department, sadly, spring fashion was a bit lacking in the boys’ section. This seems to be a recurring issue I run into and I’m sure many of you moms of boys have had similar experiences; the apparel selection for boys just isn’t as varied as it is for girls! That said, my 5-year-old and I managed to assemble a brightly-colored outfit that fit our spring theme. After browsing the various shorts options, we chose a pair of plaid cargo shorts with blue tones ($9.88) and paired it with a coordinating solid polo shirt ($4.97). He loves wearing polo shirts and the look is comfortable enough for a day at preschool or family fun on the weekend!
For right around $15 each, both of my kids have a new spring outfit that will work great for either school or the weekend. With the affordable price points of kids’ apparel you can find at Walmart, it’s easy to update your kids’ wardrobes for the spring weather and provide them with a few outfits to get them through the rest of the school year. Since my kids have grown from the beginning of the school year, I’m thinking of heading back and grabbing a few more pieces!
What type of clothes say spring fashion to you? Do you typically buy new spring outfits for your kids?
