You may have seen that we recently moved into a new home! While moving is both exciting and fun, it can also be exhausting and stressful. So many things to pack, unpack, organize, and store! We’re still in our half-moved-in stage. That’s the stage where even though our day-to-day belongings have (primarily) been unpacked, there are still items we keep looking for that we then remember are still tucked away in a box or bin. It’s a work-in-progress, but little by little and with the help of some organizational tools, our place is slowly starting to look more like a home.
One little corner that needed some help was my daughter’s personal care items on her dresser. Rather than have a variety of bottles scattered across her dresser, I wanted her to have a way to store and organize them. It didn’t have to be anything fancy, just a place she could hold her items. So, we headed to our local Walmart to see what we could find and explored our options from the variety of storage solutions and baskets. Check out what we found and how we made it her own using a couple of craft supplies!
We found a nice woven storage basket ($8.42) in the bathroom storage section that was a good size to fit large and small bottles, but that wouldn’t clash with my girl’s room decor. She liked that the basket fit her hair creams, body lotion, deodorant, hair brush, and other necessary items for getting ready in the morning. I liked that all her items will now be neatly organized, in one place, where she can easily access and find them.
Because the basket was a little plain, she opted to decorate it a bit – in a really simple way! Using a cute chevron print ribbon and a fun craft tape we found with the words “loving life,” we wrapped the basket to give it some color. The colors and prints work great with the current designs my girl is into and the message of the craft tape is a wonderful reminder for her to see every day. It was a simple addition, but it really works to make the basket a bit more decorative for her room.
Sometimes a simple solution works best to get you on track to organizing a space. With so many storage and organizational options available at Walmart, I bet you can probably get the year started with less clutter in your life. Plus, with a little creativity, you can make those storage solutions fit your space by adding some decorations, a little paint, or whatever design element will help it coordinate within your home better.
