I bet you’re gearing up for Thanksgiving next week and probably getting your home ready for holiday guests. Chances are you have other families with kids coming to stay with you, so prepping your home includes preparations for (extra) little ones! I know that my children love special surprises, even when we’re just staying at my mom’s house a couple of nights. Something about a little bag in the guest room from Abuela, just brightens up their stay! As I thought about this, I realized that creating a welcome basket for kids is a simple gesture that would help your holiday guests feel extra special in your home. Check out the video below for a quick overview, then read on for details of the items!
How to Create a Simple Welcome Basket for Holiday Guests with Kids
Help Holiday Guests Feel Special: Create a Welcome Basket for Kids!
As you can see, a welcome basket for kids that are holiday guests can be simple. I thought about items that would help make a stay in someone else’s home more comfortable or fun. My kids absolutely loved the plush throw and raved about how soft and comfy it is! Can you imagine how a child guest in your home would feel to be gifted with one of their own? Of course, snacks and bath items or toys are always a great idea for kids. Plus, you can be sure they’ll use those items during their stay and perhaps even after going home!
For the kids’ welcome basket I put together, I used the following items:
- Better Homes and Gardens Chicken Wire Basket (Small), $7.47
- Mainstays Plush Throw, $4.96
- Crayola Bath Letters & Numbers, $4.88
- Kids’ Travel Bath Set, $4.88
- Chips Ahoy and Goldfish snacks, about $1 each
You can choose whatever items you think will be most useful for your holiday guest and their kids. Perhaps it’s small toys or art supplies to keep them entertained? Or maybe a set of new pajamas? Be creative when putting together your welcome basket for kids! Your guests will appreciate the gesture and the kids will love being welcomed in your home with a special surprise!
Will you be hosting holiday guests this Thanksgiving or Christmas?
