While we don’t typically host holiday gatherings, this Christmas season, it’s possible we may have a few folks over due to our kids’ birthday parties and our upcoming move to another town. The kids have quite a few goodbyes to say, so I’m preparing for occasional visits this month. Truth be told, it was very tempting to not decorate the house for the holidays this year, since we’re in the middle of packing our belongings and will be moving a few days after Christmas! But, it didn’t feel right to not decorate at all and our kids love seeing the decorations up – it helps us all feel more festive!
After putting up our Christmas tree and a few household decorations, I decided our front entrance needed a little something extra. I wanted something simple that would greet guests as they enter our house, but that would be easy for us to pack up. I’m happy to say that I found a couple of items at my local Walmart to create a Christmas look and as a plus, they coordinated well with a few Santa decorations the kids already had at the front! Check out my new front entrance Christmas decoration!
Simple Foyer Christmas Decoration Idea
Upon entering our front door, our foyer has a small ledge and inset on the wall. This spot has become our holiday decoration center, where we display various decorative items and often add holiday artwork the kids create. I knew it would look great with some lights or a garland, so I love that I found a pre-lit Christmas garland that worked perfectly! At less than $10, this garland will also work in our future home and I can add to it if I choose to extend it.

To complete our foyer ledge, I found a cute Christmas tree candle holder ($9.83). I actually first saw it during a recent trip to the Walmart home office, where a variety of holiday products were showcased. I loved the look of it and the silver works great against the green of the garland, so it worked out perfectly. By adding a few festive cinnamon-scented tealights, our new Christmas decoration was complete! It’s a simple idea, but it works for our foyer and is exactly right for our current about-to-move situation.
