Husbands. They can be the best and sometimes… the most annoying. Right??? But, that’s probably part of their charm – or so I’m told…by my husband.
In all seriousness, while I bet that all husbands can annoy their wives (on purpose even), after 14 years of marriage, my husband can make up for his annoyances in the best way. It can be a small gesture – bringing home something I really enjoy eating, offering to take over a task that I normally do, or simply sitting down to chat with me about a concern. Sometimes, though, he surprises me with just how well he knows me! Let me tell you about what he did just a couple of weekends ago.
It was a typical Sunday that I thought would be spent at home, full of laundry and hanging out as a family. It happened to be that it was also National Picnic Day, so I planned to head outside and have a small picnic right in our backyard. Why make things complicated, right? The kids loved the idea, but we needed to grab a few things from the grocery store for our picnic.
As we were all getting dressed and ready to head to the grocery store, my husband looks at me and asks, “Want to have our picnic at the beach?”
I almost didn’t know what to do with myself! An impromptu trip to the beach? On Sunday? Like without having pre-packed a bunch of food and beach items? This is totally unheard of in our family, so I just shot him a surprised look and literally said, “Seriously? Just go…right now?”
So off we headed to the beach, mid-day, with minimal supplies we quickly grabbed and a plan to grab food on our way. Can I just say it was the best way to go to the beach? And it was EXACTLY what I needed! I adore the beach – the breeze, the sound of the waves, sitting by the ocean, and even the sand in my toes – it all does my soul good. It might have something to do with being born on an island that helps me feel like the beach is home. If I could, I’d go to the beach every weekend. Our spur of the moment beach trip to have a picnic on the sand was absolutely perfect.
Which is why I say sometimes, husbands know you better than yourself!
What nice gesture has your significant other done for you lately?

¡Me encantó esto! Mi esposo cocina a veces o busca la manera en ayudarme, pero cuando me soprende lo hace bien.
