Every holiday season, we try to stress to the kids the importance of being grateful for what we have and paying it forward when we can. We do this all year long as well, but it’s easy to get caught up on wish lists and such during the holidays, so we especially remind them at this time. Luckily, giving during the holidays is made easy through various efforts and organizations. One that we took advantage of is Walmart’s Fill the Truck program, in partnership with The Salvation Army. Read on to find out how you too can help families in your local community!
Walmart and The Salvation Army, along with help from local communities, will be working to Fill the Truck and collect toys for children in need this holiday season. While you’re shopping at your local Walmart store, you can drop off new, unwrapped toys (other children’s items and coats too) in your store’s Fill the Truck bin. You can do this at all Walmart Supercenter and larger Walmart stores (not Neighborhood Markets). Toys will then be distributed to local families for gifting to their children this Christmas.
As part of our Walmart Moms program participation, Walmart gave us $50 to purchase toys and donate at our local Walmart. My baby boy and girl were excited to pick out toys for other children and thoughtfully chose toys similar to those they would like for themselves. After checking out, we simply placed our items in our store’s Fill the Truck box at the front. How simple is that?
I encourage you to learn more about Walmart’s Fill the Truck program and pick up an extra toy or two as you do your holiday shopping at Walmart this month. You can donate in stores until December 14, but can also donate online through December 25th!
