Organic products can sometimes be a little on the pricey side – it’s the reason we don’t purchase everything organic in our house. I’m glad to see more affordable organic products available, however, such as the Wild Oats Marketplace organic line found at Walmart. Walmart also offers Marketside Organic products, with lots of fresh produce [aff] available – and the Walmart Marketside Organic line just got rebranded to help you more easily find organic products! Watch the video below to learn more about the Walmart Marketside Organic products, plus read on for more details and what my family thought after trying out Marketside Organic!
Affordable Organic Produce with Walmart Marketside Organic Products!
As I mentioned in the video, Marketside Organic products at Walmart can now be easily found with their new purple label. Walmart will be offering around 50 Marketside Organic produce items and many stores will also have their organic produce in a separate, designated area. Some of those 50 organic produce items you’ll find in the Marketside Organic line include: avocados, apples, packaged salads, carrots, broccoli, onions, kale, rainbow chard, juice, grapes, potatoes, and strawberries.
I purchased a few Walmart Marketside Organic produce items for my family, including a packaged salad mix, fresh spinach, petite carrots (my girl loves to snack on carrots!), and juice smoothies. It was great to get organic carrots at about the same price as non-organic; my package of petite carrots was priced at $1.98. Similarly, packages of fresh organic spinach and salad mix were very affordable, priced at $3.28. Wondering about those organic juice smoothies we tried? They were a hit, with my daughter exclaiming they tasted very much like a homemade smoothie! Each 28 oz bottle was priced at $4.98 and the Marketside Organic juice smoothies are available in a variety of flavors to help your family get more fruits and veggies in your diet. Isn’t that great?
Are you excited to see more affordable organic produce options at Walmart with Marketside Organic products?

I usually love your products but today I bought petite carrots and they were terribly bitter. Is this because they are the petite type or what? I would like to take them back but I’m too far from town. Laura Villani
Melanie Edwards says
Sorry you had that experience, Laura! You should definitely talk with your store’s customer service and/or produce manager.

My husband went shopping today and brought home Marketside organic spinach from Walmart today with an expiration date of March 13. the number below the date is Bo 22141-004a018. the bar code is 6 8113132898 2
the leaves are not baby spinach. This happened once before and I switched to another brand. THen back to Marketside. Things were fine for a while and now this.Very disappointing.
Would like a response.

I got the market side chunky avacado, it was horrible it’s supposed to be just avacado but it taste like plastic. I made it into guacamole and the plastic taste still over powered. I won’t be buying it again.

Purchased Organic Maretside Half & Half spring mix and baby spinach. Made a salad and as I was eating came across, which appears to be like a string of nylon. Talk about a turn off for a meal. Thank god I didn’t start to swallow. Expect better quality
Melanie Edwards says
Oh no! I hope you were able to contact Walmart for help regarding your experience.

The only problem I have with Marketside Organics is that it is not Non-GMO verified! This leaves me skeptical! Also I bought a can of organic garbanzo beans at Walmart for $2.00 less than the other store and later found out why. The more expensive can stated Non-gmo verified and non-BPA lined can! So be wise when choosing Walmart cheaper brands!
Lawrence Ferrier says
Also, I’m skeptical of labels that say “Grown Organically” Which to me means You can grow a gmo product organically!
A grocer told me gov regulations prevent gmo from being labeled organic! Do you trust the gov that allows gmo in the first place? Not me! Non-GMO verified is the only way to go but still not 100% sure in my mind! Hard to trust anything! Grow my own and friends at farmers markets I trust!

I was disappointed to find Marketside Kale had a large amount big stems loose in the bag and also attached to small pieces of kale. This was a big waste of money. I was expecting kale leaves not inedible stems.
Melanie Edwards says
You can always bring it up to your local Walmart and let them know that the quality was not up to par.

I buy the Marketside organic spinach at least once a week. The last two that I have purchased had what looks like weeds mixed with the spinach. As we wash the leaves we put he weeds to the side. That’s some expensive weeds.
Melanie Edwards says
That’s no fun! Have you let your local store know?

I was SE GM for one of the first companies to sell organic produce on the Eastern Seaboard. I also helped to write the Florida Organic Laws. I appreciate your selling of organic products. Your organic scallions or green onions are almost always superior to the commercial ones. HOWEVER, you must NOT put scallions into a sealed plastic bag! It decreases their shelf life by 50% or MORE. You end up with perfectly good white onions with slimy brown green leaves! HOPEFULLY you can pass this on the the Central Warehouse! It is a SHAME to have your Produce Managers trash shipments because of poor packaging. Thanks, KP

I purchased fresh chicken thighs went home to cook it. when I cut it in pieces ,I noticed the skin was very thick and tough. Chicken skin is normally thin. Also notice there were no bones in chicken. The package did not say boneless. That was a red flag because, if the chicken had bones, I can identify that it was actually chicken thighs purchased With no bones ,I don’t know rather I got chicken or some other type of meat.
The chicken did not smell like chicken and it did not taste like chicken. It did not have a smell. The only thing I could taste and smell was the flour and seasoning I used.
First time having this bad experience with chicken thighs. It was wrapped in a package such a way to look like chicken thighs but I seriously doubt that was chicken thighs.
