Halloween is definitely one of our family’s favorite holidays and I dare say my daughter’s top choice. She’s been talking about Halloween for a few months already, so when we surprised them with a visit to Mickey’s Not-So-Scary Halloween Party at the end of August, she couldn’t have been happier! Admittedly, it was a little strange to me to be celebrating Halloween in August, but Disney World got the party started early with event dates having begun back on August 17 and running through October 31st! Check out all the fun things to do at Mickey’s Not-So-Scary Halloween Party with your family!
13 Things To Do at Mickey’s Not-So-Scary Halloween Party with Your Family!
1. Hocus Pocus Villain Spelltacular
A must-watch musical show, the Hocus Pocus Villain Spelltacular brings out many of your favorite villains from a variety of Disney movies. Hosted by the Sanderson Sisters from Disney’s Hocus Pocus, it’s not a very scary show and is full of singing and dancing. However, to keep with the Halloween theme, it is dark and spooky(ish), so the littlest ones in your family may get a wee bit scared. (It’s really up to you and them to decide if this show is right for your family.) Be sure to read our write-up from previous years, which includes video!
2. Mickey’s “Boo-to-You” Halloween Parade
Disney World parades are always a sight to see and this one is frightfully the same! Halloween-themed floats and costumed characters – all in family-friendly fun! Be sure to stick around until the end for a certain headless surprise guest!
3. Happy HalloWishes Fireworks
If you’ve ever seen Disney World fireworks, then you know they’re truly spectacular! These fall and Halloween-themed fireworks are much the same, set to the tunes of various Disney villains.
4. Monstrous Scream-O-Ween Ball
Your kids will have a monstrously fun time dancing along with Mike Wazowski and Sulley! Let them burn off some of that sugar rush energy before continuing your night of fun.
5. Storybook Circus Disney Junior Jam
New in 2018, the youngest kids in your family will love dancing along with their favorite Disney Junior friends, including Vampirina! This is great if the littlest members of your crew need a break from trick-or-treating or the spooktacular fun throughout the park becomes a little too spooky.
6. Meet Special Disney Characters
During special events such as Mickey’s Not-So-Scary Halloween Party, special Disney characters you would otherwise not find make appearances for meet-and-greets. Likewise, some of your favorite characters will be around dressed in their Halloween costumes! We were able to find Jack Skellington & Sally from The Nightmare Before Christmas, making our kids super happy!
7. Candy, Candy, Candy!
It wouldn’t be trick-or-treating without candy – and wow, there’s so much of it! With 14 treat locations throughout the Magic Kingdom, you’ll definitely leave with bags full of your favorite candies! Plus, if anyone in your family has a food allergy, Disney has you covered. You can get allergy-friendly treats at two designated locations, which provide lots of options to choose from!
8. Take Advantage of Shorter Lines for Several Attractions
Since Mickey’s Not-So-Scary Halloween Party is a special-ticketed event separate from regular park admission, there are less people in the park. This means you can have fun with those attractions that are open and enjoy shorter lines!
9. Enjoy Spooktacular Dessert Treats
As if the candy wasn’t enough, special event desserts can also be found throughout dining locations at Magic Kingdom! From a Jack Skellington push pop dessert to an Oogie Booie meringue, there’s quite a few varieties for your family to choose from.
10. Shop Special Event Memorabilia
Event keepsakes, trading pins, and costume pieces can be found at select locations throughout the park for you to add to your Disney collection!
11. Sorcerers of the Magic Kingdom
Be sure to collect your event-exclusive Sorcerers of the Magic Kingdom spell card before embarking on your night of frightful fun! Swing by the Main Street, U.S.A. Firehouse to grab one for each ticketed member in your family.
12. Have Fun Dressing Up
Walt Disney World encourages you and your family to dress in costume, but does have guidelines. Be sure to read them before heading to Mickey’s Not-So-Scary Halloween Party to ensure a pleasant and fun experience!
13. Capture Magic Shots
Let Disney photographers capture a few special Magic Shots with a boo-tiful twist! Using props or digital effects, you’ll get spooktacular memories to take home.
