Our family recently spent 6 days at the Walt Disney World Resort here in Central Florida where we partly attended the Disney Social Media Moms Celebration and partly had a wonderful family vacation! Since I received an invitation to attend this year’s conference at the Disney parks, we decided to add on a few extra days and make a family trip out of the experience. Our family definitely enjoyed a break from the everyday routine while soaking in the pixie dust and magic of Disney!
One of the best things about our trip was having Disney’s Memory Maker. This is something we loved from a previous Disney trip and planned to add to our experience, but we ended up receiving a complimentary Memory Maker subscription as part of our attendance to the Disney Social Media Moms Celebration! Memory Maker is definitely an add-on that’s worth the cost and helps make any family vacation at Disney World extra special. Let me tell you why.
7 Reasons Why Disney Memory Maker is Worth Every Penny
- You can take as many photos as you want throughout the Disney World Resort without thinking about storage space on memory cards or multiple devices. All photos in one place!
- You can have TONS of family photos without missing family members who were behind the camera. (This is probably my favorite perk of Memory Maker!) The entire family can get in the shot in front of iconic Disney views such as Cinderella’s Castle, The Tree of Life, and Spaceship Earth.
- You’ll have fun “magic shots” to take home! Many of the Disney photographers have the capability to add fun effects to your photos, called magic shots. You’ll get special photos of your kids holding balloons in the air, or Tinkerbell in their hands, or a variety of other effects themed to each area/park. The kids love seeing themselves in photos with magic shots and always ask if they’re available!
- You get instant access to your photos and can share with family, friends, and on social from the Disney mobile app. Some photos are visible right away, while others take up to a few hours to upload from the photographer’s camera. In general, though, you get to see and share your Memory Maker photos the same day.
- Your entire family/party can add photos to the one Memory Maker account, even if separated. Through the use of Disney Magic Bands or the Memory Maker scannable cards (as long as they’re all connected to one profile along with the Memory Maker purchase), all photos added by any family member will be added to one account. That means it doesn’t matter if half of your family is in one park while the rest stayed at another, they can individually take photos, scan their Magic Bands, and all photos will be visible from one Memory Maker account!
- You can take home each of the ride photos (and videos)! Go ahead and scan your Magic Band on that ride photo in the gift shop – it’ll be added to your Memory Maker account so you and the family can laugh for years at those funny faces made during the ride! (Some attractions put together a video montage of your ride as well, adding another layer of pixie dust to your Disney vacation!)
- You can get special couples-only photos! If you have young kids like us, then it’s impossible to get vacation photos of just the two of you – the kids can’t hold the heavy camera or don’t have a steady hand. With Memory Maker, you can easily take more than a few couples-only photos while your child(ren) wait off-camera, but within view.
These are some of the reasons why my family and I love Memory Maker and really think it’s worth the $169 price. (TIP: Purchase Memory Maker 3 days in advance of your trip to save $20!) You get special moments and memories saved, ease of mind, and convenience all wrapped up in one easy-to-purchase tool. Once back home, you can download all your Memory Maker photos (along with the photo release) for making prints, displaying digitally, and archiving. You’re also able to purchase prints and special products with your photos right from the Memory Maker tool, if you wish. It truly is an add-on to consider and budget into your Disney World vacation if you’re able!
