Wow! What a fun-filled summer we had as a family! Just when we thought it was time to start slowing things down and begin prepping for back to school, we got an opportunity to squeeze in some super last-minute summer fun the same week the kids had their first day of school. Being fans of family fun and wishing to make as many summer memories as possible, we headed to SeaWorld’s Aquatica Orlando with extended family for a day of water fun to enjoy our last days of summer! Check out all the fun Aquatica has to offer for your family and why it’s a great idea for guests of all ages!
Our family of four met up with my mami, brother, and his young daughter who happened to be visiting from out of state to enjoy a family day at Aquatica. What better way for cousins to have fun than to spend a summer day together at a water park! Being that we had a multi-generational group including kids in the 5 & 6 year old range, a tween, and even a grandparent, we wanted to be sure that all had fun in their own way. Aquatica provided a good balance of fun and relaxation for all ages in our group and we had a wonderful day with our family! Here’s some of the fun you can look forward to at Aquatica Orlando.
Aquatica Orlando Provides Fun for All Ages!
Kata’s Kookaburra Cove
Perfect for the youngest guests in your family (toddlers and young kids), Kata’s Kookaburra Cove has just the right amount of water fun and small slides! Even though my baby boy and niece are 6 and 5 and can handle larger slides, they had a blast playing freely in Kata’s Kookaburra Cove. There are about 6 different slides for young kids to explore, water fountains, cannons to shoot, and a large river pool for them to just float and play.
Walkabout Waters
This easily had to be the hit of our day; we even visited it twice! What’s not to love about a 60-foot-tall tower bursting with water at every corner? There’s so much to explore – slides, buckets, nets to climb, and so much more. All the kids in our family had tons of fun at Walkabout Waters and it was hard not to get in on the fun with them!
Cutback Cove & Big Surf Shores
The wave pools at Aquatica are divided into two – one always has waves, while the other goes from low waves to high waves. While this is something to be careful with when you have younger kids, older kids and adults do love the countdown and the waves! You can always stay closer to “shore” with the little ones and let stronger swimmers go a little deeper.
Loggerhead Lane
A leisure float along the lazy river is perfect for us adults and the older generations, though the little ones loved it too! Loggerhead Lane provides a good respite to a busy day and the kids love the tropical fish tank you can see as you float by on your inflatable. (Note: The little ones and grandparents may need help getting on and off their inflatable tube.)
Roa’s Rapids
A bit of a faster river ride, Roa’s Rapids is great for amping up the speed of the day. It was nothing unmanageable for our kids (though we did hang on to them upon entering and exiting) and it provided just the right amount of speed as the river’s current helped us travel.
Plenty of Thrill Rides & Slides
There’s a variety of slides and thrill rides with varying height requirements available at Aquatica. Depending on your family’s thrill-seeking levels and height restrictions, you can choose which to enjoy in your day. Our tween wanted to try quite a few of them, but some did not allow for her younger brother and cousin to join (or height-fearing mom, haha!). That provided opportunities for the rest of our party to explore areas like Kata’s Kookaburra Cove while she and her dad tested out rides like Ihu’s Breakaway Falls.
Lots of Seating Areas
Even though my mami did not partake in any of the thrill rides or slides, she did enjoy her day observing her grandchildren having lots of fun. Her fun comes from having a relaxing day outside of her normal routine and from seeing them enjoying themselves. Luckily, Aquatica has plenty of shaded seating areas that allowed her to sit, relax, and enjoy her day out with her family! So, if you visit Aquatica with grandparents or older relatives, you will not have to worry about them being uncomfortable – just find them a shady spot, keep them hydrated, and properly protected from the sun.
We had a wonderful day as a family with our summer visit to Aquatica Orlando! It was the perfect end to our summer and a great family fun day with extended family! Our out-of-town visitors had never visited the Aquatica water park and very much enjoyed their day, so I know that all-around, awesome summer memories were made for all!
