Open now in east Orlando is Bonefish Grill, a seafood restaurant that originated from St. Petersburg, Florida in 2000. The chain has since expanded to approximately 200 restaurants nationwide and has recently added a Waterford Lakes location, hoping to appeal to the number of residents and visitors alike who regularly come to the area to shop and dine. modernmami was provided a special invitation to sample many of the menu offerings in order to bring you a sense of what Bonefish Grill has to offer and yours truly was selected to make this great sacrifice. It was a difficult job, but someone had to do it!
Our extremely friendly staff started the evening with cocktails in the form of Fresh Watermelon Martini. While the color of this cocktail reflected its name, it owed its flavor more to cucumber, a unique ingredient for any kind of drink. This light cocktail was followed up by a round of appetizers ranging from Mussels Josephine in a lemon wine sauce to Thai Coconut Shrimp to Bonefish Grill’s signature appetizer, Bang Bang Shrimp. Bang Bang Shrimp has amassed such great popularity that Bonefish Grill has a weekly Wednesday special (appropriately named Bang Wednesdays) that offers this appetizer for $5, nearly half of its regular price. However, the star of the entire night was Bang Bang’s underrated cousin, the Ahi Tuna Sashimi. Per its menu description, this appetizer is sesame-seared rare with wasabi and pickled ginger earning rave reviews from our table. One may typically associate sashimi with restaurants that specialize in sushi rather than seafood in general but one would be remiss to not try this Japanese delicacy at Bonefish Grill.
Several entrees such as the Pecan Parmesan Crusted Rainbow Trout do well in representing the restaurant’s namesake. Those who don’t have inclinations for seafood can find solace in that Bonefish Grill also offers an excellent Filet Mignon. Kiddos are not left behind either as Bonefish also offers a number of fish plates and the universally appealing chicken tenders for the picky eaters in your family. If you can find room in your belly for dessert then you can enjoy a number of different dessert offerings including the Key Lime Pie, a sweet ending to a deeply satisfying meal. I personally recommend not ending your meal quite so fast and instead indulge in the after-dinner cocktail, Espresso Martini. True to its name, the martini provides quite the jolt and contains enough sweetness to replace your after meal dessert – or in addition to, if you so wish. Hey, don’t judge! We’re glad to sacrifice the calories for our readers.
Disclosure: We were provided a complimentary dinner to experience all Bonefish Grill has to offer. All thoughts and opinions are our own.
