The holiday season is in full swing and with it comes a number of Christmas themed celebrations at various central Florida attractions. SeaWorld’s Christmas Celebration offers guests festive entertainment alongside its trademark marine animals. Recently, we previewed the celebration so that we could share with you some of the highlights that may appeal to you and your families. Read on for more about the family-friendly SeaWorld Christmas fun!
Our preview began with Sea of Trees, a visually engaging display of Christmas trees across the lagoon that have lights dancing to various Christmas carols. As Sea of Trees takes place in an open area, there is no formal seating so guests will want to arrive a little bit early to save a prime viewing spot along the bridge. With multiple showings each night, you will have plenty of opportunities to catch this musical display of the Christmas spirit.
Those with little ones will want to make absolutely sure to catch Elmo’s Christmas Wish, a seasonal show taking place at Seaport Theater that features Elmo and some of his friends from Sesame Street. Elmo and company perform several lively Christmas tunes including a nod to Spanish-speaking audiences with Cascabel, Cascabel, the Spanish version of Jingle Bells. The kids in the audience seemed to really enjoy the show throughout, but especially when Elmo and his friends ventured into the crowd to interact with guests.
The next show on our agenda, O Wondrous Night, offered a more formal show complete with a cast of theatrical singers retelling the story of the birth of Jesus Christ. The show does have a twist as the singers double as puppeteers to reenact the role that various stable animals play in the Nativity scene. However, staying true to form as a SeaWorld show, O Wondrous Night does showcase real animals including some very large camels.
Of course a trip to SeaWorld isn’t complete without taking in the center attraction piece to the park. Shamu Christmas Miracles emphasizes testimonials of miracles alongside theatrical performances by killer whales. As with all of the previous shows, Christmas carols provide the soundtrack to the show to put guests in the holiday spirit.
The nightcap comes courtesy of Winter Wonderland On Ice, a unique concept as far as theme park Christmas celebrations go. Several ice skating performers take the ice to entertain the audience with various acrobatics. This show runs seamlessly into Holiday Reflections: Fireworks & Fountain Finale, a fireworks extravaganza with a twist. You can view the fireworks with the naked eye and still take in a spectacular visual display. However, we recommend obtaining a pair of viewing glasses that are similar in appearance to 3D glasses. These glasses enhance your experience resulting in the appearance of snowflakes in the sky. You will need to experience it yourself to fully appreciate how this separates itself from a typical fireworks display.
All of these shows can attract large crowds particularly during the busy holiday season. As such, you may want to consider SeaWorld’s Christmas Seating, an add-on package that reserves seating at O Wondrous Night, Shamu Christmas Miracles, and Winter Wonderland On Ice. SeaWorld Christmas Celebration is included with your SeaWorld admission and runs on select dates, now through December 31!
Disclosure: We were provided complimentary admission to SeaWorld Orlando to experience the Christmas celebration. All thoughts and opinions are our own.
