Music and food represent cultural traditions in a way that can’t be surpassed by anything else. All it takes is a couple of notes from a song or the right aroma to evoke a certain memory of your past that brings about a smile to your face. SeaWorld’s Viva La Música offers those with Latin roots an opportunity to celebrate their heritage with lively music and savory dishes to please the entire family.
Running every Saturday until May 16, Viva La Música will feature several big name artists. Olga Tañón opened up the celebration last Saturday in front of a loyal fanbase that ran, not walked, to the Bayside Stadium to catch a performance of the Puerto Rican artist who hails from Levittown. Olga is definitely not easy to follow, but SeaWorld has enlisted El Gran Combo de Puerto Rico for Saturday, May 2, and Elvis Crespo for Saturday, May 9.
While clearly Viva La Música focuses on its live performances from famous artists, one could argue that the food is what ends up stealing the show. On the pathway to Bayside Stadium you will find booths set up with enough authentic comida criolla, causing you to salivate as you decide between the myriad of options available. Here you can find quesitos alongside tostones, carne frita, bacalaitos, and much more. You’ll also find a variety of alcoholic beverages, including this year’s new frozen piña colada, served in a freshly-cut pineapple! The must-try dish, however, seems to be the tripleta sandwich (also new to the Viva La Música menu this year), as we learned from SeaWorld’s Executive Chef Hector Colón. Watch the video below to hear from the chef himself, as he passionately describes what makes this Puerto Rican sandwich so great and the inspiration behind the Viva La Música menu!

Chef Hector Colón also shared with us a bit about other Latin American food you can find during the Viva La Música festival! (He speaks in Spanish, but we’ve added English subtitles.)
Another new aspect of this year’s Viva La Música is the transformed garden area, which provides families with a comfortable setting. Families will find monitors for viewing the live concert (if you can’t make it to Bayside Stadium), activities for kids, domino tables, and up-close encounters with SeaWorld animals. Be sure to also browse the merchandise from local artisans!
If you want to enhance your Viva La Música experience, consider adding special packages. Starting at $19, you can obtain reserved floor seating for the featured concert of that day. Add $20 more and you can reserve front row seats. Plus, both packages include a $10 in-park spending credit! Viva La Música itself, though, is free with paid park admission to SeaWorld.
Of course, SeaWorld offers plenty for guests year-round so you may want to consider purchasing a 2015 SeaWorld Orlando Fun Card, which provides you SeaWorld admission for all of 2015 for the price of one day! Also, for a limited-time only, guests with a Fun Card can experience one day at Aquatica, adding even more value to this pass. Now you have plenty of reasons to make room in your weekend schedule for Viva La Música, running every Saturday until May 16.
