Growing up, my family sat down to eat dinner together nearly every night. It was nice to chat about each other’s days while enjoying a home-cooked meal that my mom had prepared. I can now say that the same family dinner moments are being shared with my own family. Every night (save for rare occasions where our routine is thrown off), we share dinner and catch up on the day’s events. We even have a small dinner tradition where each of us shares a rose (good part of our day) and thorn (not-good part of our day). The kids really enjoy sharing their roses and thorns and hearing from my husband and I! As they grow, I hope these family dinners will be part of their special family memories.
Something that has become part of our dinner routine is serving water as everyone’s beverage. Since we want to encourage our children to drink more water throughout the day, serving water as part of our family dinner is the perfect way to not only help our children meet that goal, but also role model the behavior ourselves! We have found a few ways to help our kids drink more water each day and get them excited about drinking water, but adding water to our family dinners is definitely one of the simplest ways to ensure our kids see and drink water! Read on to learn how Nestlé® Pure Life® is helping busy parents like us get our kids excited about drinking more water and to get the details on a fun contest they’re hosting!
While getting children to drink more water can be a challenging task, it seems there’s one trick that gets kids to choose water! Nearly 37% of moms surveyed in 2015 by Nestlé® Pure Life® agreed that letting their child drink bottled water instead of out of a cup would help get their child to drink more water. Is this true in your household? It certainly is in mine, even though I can’t understand the logic! I actually asked my 5-year-old about it and he said that he really likes it when he can just grab a small bottle from the fridge. (I suppose even kids find convenience appealing!) Luckily, you can find Nestlé® Pure Life® in a variety of sizes and designs, including the small, kid-friendly 8 oz. bottles which my baby boy loves because they are, in his words, “my size!” It’s ideas like these that help families like yours and mine win at drinking more water and even have fun doing so. The Nestlé® Pure Life® team continues to “think outside the bottle” in an effort to get kids excited about water and encourages families to do the same! Check out the fun Share Your Smile Label Design kids’ contest going on, which aims to motivate kids to grab water first through cute bottle designs!
