The fall season brings different fresh produce to stores near you, with apples, pumpkins, and squash being some of the most popular fall produce picks you’ll find. At Walmart, apples are a highlight of fall produce, with lots of apple varieties available for you to bring the flavors of fall into your home – even if you live in places where Fall doesn’t quite make an appearance (like Florida). To take advantage of the apple and fall produce selections, I decided to create a simple appetizer that also doubles as a tasty after-school snack for the kids! Using sweet Honeycrisp apples, this apple and goat cheese crostini appetizer is sure to be a hit in your home!
3-Ingredient Apple and Goat Cheese Crostini Appetizer
Ingredients
- Honeycrisp apples, cut into thin slices
- Baguette or crusty bread
- Goat cheese
Directions
- Cut bread into small pieces.
- Spread goat cheese onto bread and layer 1-2 apple slices on top. (You could also lightly brush the bread with olive oil and pre-toast.)
- Toast in a toaster oven for 2-3 minutes, or bake in oven until bread is crispy.
Isn’t that ridiculously simple? It tastes delicious, since the warm goat cheese and apple make a really good combination. My kids loved their apple and goat cheese crostinis and are looking forward to eating them for an after-school snack again. My oldest was also thinking up different combinations, like using crackers instead of bread.
I chose Honeycrisp apples because they tend to be sweet and crispy, making them the perfect apple for apple and goat cheese crostinis, in my opinion. However, you can choose whichever apple you prefer, keeping in mind the different flavors each apple variety offers. For example, the Granny Smith apple has a very tart taste, which you may like for your crostini, but it’s definitely not a taste loved by all.
Which is your favorite apple variety and/or your favorite fall recipe for cooking with apples?

Great idea! I’ve done something similar with hummus but hadn’t considered goat cheese. I will try this. Thanks.
