I’ve always been a fan of fruity frozen treats and now I get to share that fun with my own kids! We are partial to tropical flavors in our house, but really, all kinds of fruit flavors are welcome when we’re talking about fruit bars. So, it was a no-brainer for us to attend a local Fruttare Fruit Farm event to learn more about their delicious fruit bars made with real fruit, including sustainably farmed strawberries, coconuts, bananas, and limes. Check out the fun we had with Fruttare and how these refreshing fruit bars can add to your summer fun!
At the Fruttare Fruit Farm event, families had the chance to partake in a variety of fun, family-friendly activities, as well as sample a Fruttare fruit bar! I saw lots of kids enjoying their strawberry or mango bars and having fun with the bean bag toss, coloring, planting strawberry seeds, and most of all, making a banana dolphin! Having fun with food is something kids love and Fruttare definitely encourages everyone to have fun with food, and in life, so this was a perfect activity for families to enjoy together! Here are the instructions from Fruttare on how you and your kids can make your own banana dolphins at home!
Real Banana Dolphin {Fun with Food Recipe}
Ingredients
- 1 banana
- 2 blueberries
- Handful of strawberries
- A knife
- A marker or permanent pen
- Toothpicks
Instructions
* an adult should handle cutting the fruit for this activity
- Start by cutting the banana in half. Keep the stem, as this will make the dolphin’s nose and mouth.
- Carefully cut the stem in half. Instead of cutting in the middle of the stem, cut from one side and go inward.
- Next, attach the blueberries as eyes with toothpicks.
- Cut some of the strawberries into smaller pieces. Put a small piece of the strawberry into the wedged open “mouth” of the dolphin created by the cut stem. The dolphin should be able to stand up on its own on the flat bottom you cut in step one.
- Cut the rest of the banana and strawberries to surround the dolphin with waves of these delicious fruits.
Isn’t that fun? I know your kids will love making a banana dolphin, along with a sweet Fruttare fruit bar for a fun afternoon break. There are nine flavors to choose from – mango, strawberry, lime, black cherry, pineapple, strawberry and milk, coconut and milk, banana and milk, and mixed berry and milk – so, which will your family like? I tried a mango Fruttare fruit bar during the event and then the coconut and milk flavor at home; both were smooth and rich in flavor! They really do make a refreshing summer treat!
Which Fruttare fruit bar flavor are you most excited to try? Which do you think the kids will like? Share your Fruttare fun on social media with #FruttareLife!

I’m going to try the Black Cherry and I know my husband will love the Mango. It does look smooth, rich (but healthy!), and fruity! Looks perfect for when I want “a little something sweet” and to enjoy during our heatwave.
Thanks
