Now that we’re in February, one of the major talking points my kids are talking about is, of course, Valentine’s Day! My girl, especially, is a fan of the holiday and loves all the red and pink that comes with it. Both of them, though, are fans of all the treats that tend to come about with Valentine’s Day and who can blame them? From pastries and cakes to brownies and lots of chocolate goodies, it’s hard not to love all the Valentine’s Day desserts that come with the holiday of love and friendship. To begin the Valentine’s Day celebrations in our home, I thought I’d surprise the kids after school this week with some chocolaty brownie hearts! Valentine’s Day Brownie Hearts for Kids
After browsing the Valentine’s Day section at my local Walmart and seeing the various baking supplies they had, I was inspired to use heart-shaped cookie cutters to make brownie hearts. I grabbed a pack of plastic cookie cutters with different-sized hearts (only 98 cents!), along with a multi-pack of sprinkles in different shapes and sizes ($1.88) and frosting.
After baking my brownies (I used a pre-packaged box mix, but you can certainly bake your own from scratch), I used the heart cookie cutters to cut out heart-shaped brownies. The brownies I baked were fudge brownies and since I used an 8×8 pan, my brownies came out pretty thick, which actually turned out to be quite delicious! So, I now had chunky, fudgy, brownie hearts that I added frosting and sprinkles to in a variety of designs to the amusement of my kids when they got home from school!
This Valentine’s Day dessert idea is super simple, but it works and delighted my kids. With little effort, I was able to surprise my kids with a cute Valentine’s Day treat and they loved the special show of love! For more treat ideas, check out the Valentine’s Day recipes on Walmart.com!

Me encanta Melanie. Me fascinan los chocolates, aunque últimamente no los estoy comiendo mucho porque cambié mi alimentación, pero de vez en cuando me doy el gustito.
