I’m sure you’ve seen trailers and commercials for Big Hero 6 and may be wondering: Is Big Hero 6 good for my family? After watching an advance screening of Big Hero 6 with my family, I can tell you that my entire family loved the movie. Both our three and eight-year-old kids, plus my husband and I, were all well-entertained by Hiro, Baymax, and the entire Big Hero 6 line-up. Before you head to the theaters this weekend, check out our full Big Hero 6 movie review to see why Big Hero 6 is indeed good for your kids and family!
Is Big Hero 6 Good for My Family?
Disney’s Big Hero 6 is inspired by the Marvel comics, Big Hero 6, and is Walt Disney Animation Studios’ 54th feature film. Featuring lovable characters Baymax and Hiro Hamada, Big Hero 6 is full of laughs and tender moments. Big Hero 6 also exposes kids to lots of science, technology, and particularly, robotics – it’s great to see STEM topics featured in an animated film, something my kids really admired!
While Big Hero 6 offers many humorous moments that my kids are still reliving at home, it also follows an emotional story about a young boy dealing with and overcoming tragic events. Though Hiro is fairly self-sufficient, he finds himself needing help and learns that he can depend on friends, even finding friendship in an unlikely form through Baymax, an inflatable robot. The themes of family and friendship are prominent in Big Hero 6, something I believe your family will find relatable.
Is Big Hero 6 Scary?
If you’re concerned about villains and any darkness they bring to children’s movies, I can tell you that the villain in Big Hero 6 is not overly scary. My three-year-old son watched Big Hero 6 with us and did not once get scared. (I think the mask of the villain helps defuse the scare aspect, but of course, use your discretion with your own children, as I know all kids are different.)
Overall, we truly loved Big Hero 6, enjoying the full-on comedy as well as the emotional moments. Big Hero 6 is a memorable movie that your kids will surely be quoting for days and ask to watch more than once. Just watch the clip below to see how Big Hero 6 delights with laughs!
