Baby boy has been dealing with eczema since he was an infant. It hasn’t yet gone away and honestly, it can be pretty bad at times. I feel terrible when I see him scratching away and just wish I could make it all go away. Thankfully, we’re able to help ease and lessen the amount of eczema flare ups by using appropriate skin care products and following certain guidelines. We recently had the chance to test out a couple of new products with baby boy; read on to see what we thought about SheaMoisture baby wash and lotion, plus learn a few eczema tips we follow!
SheaMoisture Baby Wash and Lotion Review
We were sent two new SheaMoisture products to try out: SheaMoisture Raw Shea, Chamomile & Argan Oil Baby Head-to-Toe Wash & Shampoo and SheaMoisture Raw Shea, Chamomile & Argan Oil Baby Healing Lotion, both of which you can find at Walmart for $9.94. First, let me share that all SheaMoisture products are cruelty-free and do not contain parabens, sulfates, paraffin, phthalates, mineral oil, petroleum, gluten, synthetic fragrance, or artificial colors. Many of the ingredients used are also certified organic. Already, this is all a plus, because when you’re dealing with sensitive skin and eczema, you don’t want extra ingredients like fragrance or dyes.

I have to say that these products smell great! I was a little worried about their scent since they both have frankincense and myrrh (scents I’m unfamiliar with), but they really did not disappoint. My 9-year-old girl is big on product scents and she complimented baby boy on how he smelled! (She also asked if she could use them herself since they smell so good!)
SheaMoisture’s baby healing lotion was a hit with pretty much the entire household – I used it on myself in addition to baby boy and loved the fact that it doesn’t leave behind a greasy feeling. The wash and shampoo gave the bath water a lovely scent (which baby boy really enjoyed) and cleansed his skin wonderfully, without being harsh.

5 Eczema Skin Care Tips for Your Baby
These tips work for us in caring for baby boy’s skin, but it’s always a good idea to consult your child’s pediatrician before starting a new skin care routine. Some of these we’ve learned over the years and others were provided by the SheaMoisture folks.
- Eliminate fragrance from products: We make sure to only use fragrance-free lotions, soaps, and detergent. Rather than washing just baby boy’s clothes in fragrance-free detergent, we use it for the entire family.
- Forget the lather: We mostly use sulfate-free soaps and body washes with baby boy. Getting his skin clean is the important thing, not bubbles.
- Moisturize, moisturize, moisturize: Retaining moisture on the skin and avoiding dry skin is super important for eczema-prone skin. We keep bottles of fragrance-free lotion in multiple places around the home, as well as the car. Plus, we make sure to lotion baby boy’s skin right after his bath, to lock in the moisture.
- Avoid prolonged sun exposure: Living in Florida makes this one a bit hard, but we try to limit the amount of time baby boy spends at one time in the sun. Too much heat and sweating tends to cause eczema flare ups, so we also try to dress him in comfortable, cool clothing and encourage him to clean up sweat after being outside. Of course, we again moisturize!
- Don’t rub, pat dry: After his bath, we pat him dry instead of rubbing the skin. In fact, we purposely don’t over-dry and leave a little of the moisture behind before putting lotion on his skin.
