Judy Hopps, a small town bunny girl with big city dreams, finally finds herself on the police force as a rookie cop. In the metropolis of Zootopia, where predator and prey live side by side, she is the first of her kind to reach that goal. Even though things may start out rough for her, her drive and determination to be a great police officer, gets her to knock out any challenges that come her way. Ironically, she befriends a hustling fox and together they work hard on solving a big case. That’s just the icing on the cake when it comes to what this movie is about. There are definitely deeper messages, especially a huge one on the subject of inclusion, in addition to the plot having some unexpected twists and surprises! But is Zootopia good for young kids?
Not only did Zootopia have a very good plot, but the creators did a phenomenal job on the animation as well, down to the tiniest of details. I was blown away by the exceptional amount of them, which looked even more amazing in 3D. The vast array of relatable characters, some unexpected voices, action, suspense, and adult movie references keep the humor rolling for the grownups. I doubt anyone will be disappointed, because there is never a dull moment throughout this film and the context is very relevant. It truly is an awesome movie about a multiculturally diverse place to live, and shows that no matter your size or where you come from, “you can be anything.” So, maybe if we stop pointing out differences for a moment and focus on the many wonderful abilities we all have, from all walks of life, we might just make our own Zootopia! 😉
My lil’ monkey (he’s 4 1/2) and I had the opportunity to see this preview of Zootopia, Disney’s newest animated creation in 3D. He liked most of it, but didn’t quite enjoy the whole film as much as I did. I suspect that was because, like all Disney movies, there are good guys and bad guys with dark imagery and its corresponding music. I’ve seen much scarier things in other Disney films, but at least there were several other little ones in the theatre that seemed to enjoy it and that got some good laughs out of the movie too. For that reason (and because it’s just a great movie), I can’t wait for the DVD so we can watch it again at home. Don’t forget to add this one to your own Disney vault. I predict this movie will explode into party decorations, a huge toy line, and more, in no time! Bravo Disney, Bravo.
Don’t miss the premier of Zootopia, today, March 4th, in a theatre near you!
